QDF – google query deserves freshness

by Scott Evangelou on November 3, 2009

In some searches, the google search query deserves freshness (“QDF“).

As a user of google search engine, I am likely to receive top google search results containing webpages that are fresh. That is: fresh, popular content is theoretically better content in some cases – so google will list it higher in search results.

This is one reason why we recommend that our corporate clients use blogs on their company websites. Blogging is a way to provide fresh (and ideally quality) content to the Web. Blogs are also advantageous because they:

  • allow for an easy, informal way to communicate with prospective customers
  • provide a platform to actually interact with users – through commenting, tweeting/retweeting, social bookmarking and social networking
  • create a sense of community around the company brand
  • provide free, valuable content to develop trust, loyalty and positive word-of-mouth about the business

So, if you do not operate a company blog: install one! Google is more likely to love you and so will your search engine visitors.

QDF.
