Internet marketing
Where do people go when they want to purchase something? They use a search engine, of course. Google search engine, for example, is the most visited website in New Zealand.

94% of these google searchers will only consider the 1st 10 results on a search engine results page.
Where will people actually click? *
- 51% will likely click on the #1 result
- 16% #2 result
- 6% #3 result
- 6% #4 result
- 5% #5 result…

So, your company website *must* be in the top 10 results for the keyword search-phrase(s) people will use to find your website. Ideally, the #1 result will give you the best odds for maximum sales, leads or whatever conversion you are seeking for your online presence.
So, how do you get your website (“the site“) to the top of the search engines? Simply plan and implement an efficient and effective Internet marketing campaign consisting of:
Search engine optimisation (“SEO”)
- Analysing the site against 49 SEO conventions – rules applied to site content so it is optimised for precise keyword phrases (“keyphrases”) prospective customers are currently using in search engines
- Recommending improvements – to the site content – where SEO conventions are violated; and enhancements to the site where SEO standards are improperly implemented
- Identifying the competitor sites that are currently beating the site in search engines for targeted keyphrases
- Recommending a long-term strategy to beat the competitor sites in the search engines for targeted keyphrases
- Implementing aboveĀ recommendations; primarily through World Wide Web tactics based largely around social media
- Monitoring the above 5 Internet marketing tactics and adjusting strategy accordingly

Social media optimisation (“SMO”)
- Link-building: identifying other popular websites – with relevant content – that would be interested in linking to the site
- Regularly blogging about the site – on other people’s websites – with valuable articles
- Bookmarking the site across the popular social bookmarking services
- Establishing and maintaining a presence on social networking, image-sharing, video-sharing and document-sharing websites
- Creating unique, entertaining and, controversial content so social media website users want to link to the site
- Monitoring the above 5 Internet marketing tactics and adjusting strategy accordingly
You can do this yourself, appoint someone in your company to launch it, or hire a professional.
